TNT: Peacekeepers

The second completed team for our campaign of This Is Not A Test - this is gonna be one of the teams I play.

I've been heavily inspired by the NCR in Fallout when making this team, it's build using the peacekeepers list in the TNT rules.  Unlike a lot of other teams and models, I don't really have other games in mind for these guys.

I might use the the slaves in orange for something else. I have other prison types (like the dreadball team) and thinking they can be  cool gang of raiders on day.

The bits just for these guys will be listed with the below photos.

The starting team made using TNT rules.

Reinforcements: Miniatures added to this warband at a later date.

Left: A linebreaker. The specialist is made from a Sedition Wars restic model. I've given him a Warlord Games WW2 American head, a shield from an unknown plastic sprue (some dead firm). Then I've armed him with a machete and shotgun from Warlord Games Survivors.

Middle: The Leader - Hanging Judge. Body is a Warlord Games Terminator Resistance soldier. The head is from Warlord zombie survivors and the laser carbine and pointing arm is from Mantic GCPS soldiers. I've added a small noose made from string and super glue.

Right: An elite Outrider. Resistance kneeling soldier, warlord ww2 backpack, a russian winter soldier head and the rifle is from zombie survivors. A true warlord kit bash.

Rank and file officers.

Both models are Terminator Resistance soldiers. The heads are from male and female survivors sprues. The backpack and shotgun is from ww2 american soldiers and the m16 is from the survivor sprues. Warlord bits all around.

Rank and file sacrificial lambs. Prisoners with bomb collars. I've used some old Games Workshop flagellant bodies and used heads from warlord games. Both wounded soldier heads and zombie survivor heads.

I've armed them with chainsaws and a machete. I'm really happy with the chainsaw on a stick, held in place with string and super glue.

It's hard to see on the photos, but I added a lot of blood splatter to the chainsaw guys.

Veteran survivors - Carla, Robert Munz and Rothchildes

A really the the character progression in  Last Days: Zombie Apocalypse, getting new gear and skills. Luckily most of my models have been build from insanely cheap Warlord Games sprues (from the crazy 1£ sales). And I have a few copies of each sprue.

So just for the fun of it, I've build experienced up armed versions of some of my character on the Every Day Heroes team I play.

First up is Carla (that I build a long time ago, but can't find on the blog). Carla is a nurse, who started the game armed with a pistol and knife.

But after a few games she's now armed with a shotgun and an SMG. Also she's gained the scavenger skill, so she definitely needed a cooler model.

I used the same head and backpack, also gave her the same colored t-shirt to tie the models together.

After a few games I got the option of buying a new model for the team. Enter the scene Robert 'Bobby' Munz. A survivalist with German grandparents.  Got Bobby on the team with a high powered rifle, made even more powerful from his Gunsmith skill.

But from the extra noise and constant running out of ammo was annoying. Luckily he found a hunting bow after his first game. So I modeled a new miniature for him right away.

This guy is made from Warlord Games winter Russians and an American soldier head. The backpack in Anvil Industries and the bow is from the female survivor sprue from Warlord Games.

... Both of these models will also see action in some games of This Is Not A Test.

I also kitbashed a new Father Rothchildes for my regular opponent. The original model is made from a Studiio Miniatures plastic zombie and I have a gazillion of those. So I build the same model, with some new gear. Part of Bai Wu's everyday heroes.

And here's the original.

TNT: Slavers

For my This Is Not A Test campaign, one of my mates wanted to play as Fallout 2 inspired slavers.  Leather jackets and a leader in metal armor. I looked at a few photos from Fallout 2 - very low resolution.

There's a wip post of the warband and bit list here. And blogs on the terrain here.

The warband is based on the 'Peace Keepers' list in the TNT rulebook, using the Sacrificial Lambs as slaves captured by the warband.

Here's a shot of the eight man starting warband.

Reinforcements: As the campaign progress, multible reinforcements are added to the team.
  • Blood hound bounty hunter, k-9 trainer and depend-o-bot here.

An officer armed with a shotgun, the leader 'Metzger' armed with laser carbine and metal armor and a quartermaster armed with an AR.

A Line Breaker armed with a hand weapon and a big shield. He's followed by two k-9 attack dogs, for running down potential slaves and pinning them in place.

I little reference to my all time favorite smiley face from The Watchmen. The shield's text read 'ENJOY' - yeah, please do.

A few slaves used in the game with sacrificial lamb rules - I love the explosive collars they have. The models are nice little pieces from Ramshackle Games.

Tutorial: Quick weathering toy vehicles

I like to use a lot of toy cars and other vehicles for my games, be it The Walking Dead, Last Days or This Is Not A Test.

I always enter thrift stores, second hand stores if I pass them. Boy some cheap cars or other toys vaguely in scale. For me, from a table top playing distance, it doesn't matter if the scale varies a bit. Same goes for my models with Warlord being small and Mantic being large.

I've found two ways to super quickly take the toys from that - a plastic toy - to scenery. Simple, easy and makes it fit better on the table.

Only spray
The quickest way, is to spray your vehicles with brown spray paint from a good distance. Use a couple different colors if possible. Spray the lower part first and closer - mud, dirt and such. And spray the rest of the car from a farther distance, being dust.

This yellow hummer and Ambulance is only painted with brown spray paint. No other weathering has been done to these. But it does make them much better for the tabletop.

Only quickshade
These two toys have only been weathered with the remaining quickshade I had in an old pot. At some point it'll start to dry up, so I always use the rest for terrain pieces.

Just gave these two a lot of quick shade. Lots of it in all recess areas of the toys.

Both - spray and quickshade
For these last two, I've done both. First I've dusted them with spray paint and then given them some quickshade.

These have had a bit of extra detailing done, some blood effect and matt varnish. The matt varnish does a cool effect on the windows of the vehicles. The windows look dirty, but you can still see through them. It's a good effect, as it hides the inside that's not otherwise painted.

TTCombat: Construction Shed and Army Base

One of the things I really enjoy when making terrain, is thinking of different possible setups. The construction shed from TT Combat is a cheap little piece, that can be used for all manner of different setups.

I've painted mine in OD green, and did the same with a few containers from the MSV Rizell. So this little shed is perfect for a military base checkpoint, security office at a harbor or at a construction site.

Still need to build a few more pieces for an even bigger military base setup. A few hangars, sandbag entrenchments, military truck, helipad.

Homemade wiremesh fencing. Really happy with these terrain pieces, using them for a lot of different setups.

The shipping containers from the transport ship, gonna use these in most setups as well. I think I'm gonna order some more and paint them completely rusted.

The shed used at a few harbor setups.

TNT: V8 raiders - WIP

For our This Is Not A Test campaign a mate of mine wanted some raiders with a heavy lean towards melee combat. So after a bit of back and forth, we've decided to do some Mad Max inspired war boy raiders. But going for the Tribal rules, as that gang really seems like a tribe.

Now I didn't have bits to make sickly skinny pale boys, so these are a bit more muscular and well trained. Real brutes. In the end they also ended with a Firefly reaver feel - to me at least.

These could also be marauding raiders in the Ash Wastes of Necromunda. ... I have a few space marine bikes, I might turn into gang members in the same style as these one - that could be pretty cool.

A Warleader, Tribal Champion, Berserker, three Tribal Warriors and a Warbeast.

The tribal warriors is based on GW pox walkers. I've taken a nice to them and cut off spikes and as many boils as I could. I've added genestealer cult heads, for that goggled bald war boy look.

I've added some spiked nasty knives to a couple of them - I think it's from from dark eldar kits.

To hide some of the cut work I've done, I've added some webbing with thick photo paper and super glue.

Also these tossers are armed with grenades instead of firearms. Though about giving them bomb spears like in Fury Road, but it would make the models a bit to cluttered. Added grenades to various places on their webbing.

As a base for the three elites I've used GW chaos marauder torsos (with the chaos symbols chopped off) and put them on Catachan imperial guard legs.

The warleader is armed with a thunder hammer (think the bit is from Kromlech). The head has a cool respirator and it had a thin hairline, so it was easy to make him bald. The head is from an unknown sprue from an OOP line of models (got the sprues as freebies from King Gmaes).

The backbanner is from the GW flaggelant kit and then I added a clock gear and small skull for the V8 cult insignia.

The tribal champion has a mantic pathfinder head and has some ww2 warlord pouches added, to hide the cut between torso and legs. The massive club is made from a plastic gear part, toothpick, string and super glue.

The beserkers is also armed with a backbanner - but I can't remember where the bit is from. But I reversed the skull on it and added a metal gear part for v8 insignia.

His one arm and his head a mantic pathfinder bits. I've also hidden the cut between torso and legs on this guy.

The beserker has a homemade club / ax. It's made from a marauder ax, cut down the shaft and added a gear from a clock. I think it has the size as a massive saw blade in 28mm scale. A brutal weapon.
