Corp Security stage 2

After painting up my first batch of security forces for use in cyberpunk games - mostly thinking of Hardwired for these guys - I found a missing model. So I decided to paint him up, and with that guy I found some more models to paint up. Some of the missing Mazon Labs soldiers from Star Saga. So could as well paint those at the same time.

So in the end I had 14 stage 2 security troopers more than before. More than enough. But I've also completed that part of the Star Saga core box. So that's cool.

A single stage 1 trooper, regular security. This was the missing guy. But then I also found this robot with big guns and shields. He looks like a cool entry bot. He'll walk in front, entering buildings and taking all the fire.

Next up was some more regular marines. Had only painted a few of these for use in Deadzone. Fairly simple models to paint, I like the scale - big and easy. So when they're all the same uniforms and only in three different poses - then only way to make difference is with skin colors. So been using lots of nuances here.

Last is the remaining rangers from Star Saga. Cool elite troopers. Also comes with three flamethrowers - so you know when these are deployed things are bad. Made for cleaning of research stations. But in the Hardwired expansion there's rules for teardrop template weapons.

And my completed Stage 1 and Stage 2 security foce - getting rather big. From lightly armored security troopers to fully armored rangers and big robots. And I even still have a tank and too hover police cars to paint up for them.

Star Saga: Goliath, Scuttlers and Inkers

The Star Saga Goliath was a big mosnter (and expansion) unlocking way back at the very end of the kickstarter campaing. The model is a huge, nasty clunk of alien plastic - a really great monster I think.

I've never really gotten around to playing Star Saga, but the miniatures are ace and I'm using them for all manner of stuff. I stille play Deadzone sometimes, so he goes in there as well. But this guy I decided to paint up for the This Is Not A Test expansion - It Came From The Waste.

In this expansion the warbands need to fight giant monsters - all with the strength of an entire warband.

There's a battle report using the model right here.

Painting
It was really quick for me to paint the beastie. I base coated the entire model alien purple with a spray can. The armored areas where done with a greyish bone color. Then the rest of the models was actually done with several layers of washes. The bone areas were washed with strong tone.

The skin and tentacles were washed with purple and blue washes. Some areas got more layers for a darker color. I've also gone over some areas with gloss varnish for a wet look.

Critters
Can't really recall the members of these little guys. But there's some small quick looking things and a bunch of ink spurting things. I gave my Behemoth the spawn rule in TNT, so it had to have some offspring to let loose during battle.

This small ones were done as the Goliath. Purple base coat and lots of washes.

And a small family photo of the entire nasty gang.

Cyberpunk VIPs

For the first scenario in Hardwired I need a VIP, for the agents to capture. In my bag of unsorted scifi miniatures I found a couple of Dreadball coaches. The warden from the prisoner team and a nasty looking doctor. Perfect objective miniatures for cyberpunk and scifi gaming.

A very quick paint job on these guys. White base coat on the doctor and grey on the warden. Then a few added details and a layer of wash. Super easy.

The teal green is vallejo verdigris, super nice colors. The tablets have a green screen made with vallejo flourescent green.

The dreadball miniatures are fairly small compared to many 28mm models. But the doctor still look alright next to some star saga lab technicians. Will need to go teal on the next ones I do of these.

Here's the warden, mob leader, corporate bossman hanging out with a few gangers - from my Reality's Edge crew.

Star Saga: Tables

Star Saga comes with a bunch of cool terrain and miniatures. Still hoping to see a terrain crate kickstarter with scifi pieces in this style.

Way back I bought a ton of small scale miniatures furniture from china. Full blog here. At that time I used some of the pieces to upgrade the tables from the Star Saga game, add a bit more life and detail to them.

Cut up some of the TV tables as seen below and used that for computer terminals.

For a game of Reality's Edge we needed some objectives to protect / smash and it was a good time to paint up these pieces.

As with all good sci-fi I painted the screens green. Made with a goblin green base coat, then white lines for text and a layer of Vallejos flourescent paint on top.

Last I've added a few news papers printed in a small scale, to look like reports and such.

I'm really happy with the result and I think they add way more than the plan tables they were before.

Corp Sec Tier 1 and 2

I've started playing the solo/coop cyberpunk game Hardwired (written by Patrick Todoroff who's done Zona Alfa). The games have increasing swarms of hostile forces entering the battlefield in three different tiers.

Tier 1
For the first tier enemies I've painted up some of my Star Saga security forces. These guys are perfect for the easiest enemies, no power armor or similar. I've chosen these colors as they fit my Enforcer ship and some of my other vehicles. They'll work as both cops and security forces.

The next two tier 1 enemies are a couple of agents from Human Interface. Great little models. They don't have any shoulder pads, so to get the white detail I added a few chevrons here and there.

Tier 2
For the second wave of h-sec, I've taken some better geared guys. First is a couple of Warlord Games robots, that I've given some weapons swaps. Armed with GW Tau gatling guns and imperial guard grenade launchers. And then there's two droids from Human Interface.

To complete the tier 2 response team I use some Star Saga marines.

And here's the complete police / security force with non-rapid insertion tuk-tuk.

Blue Sun flier

This is the enforcer flier from the Mantic Games Warpath kickstarter. I went in on the KS to get more models for Deadzone and some cool vehicles for sci-fi and cyberpunk games.

At first I couldn't really decided which colors to paint this flier, so that it would have the maximum possible uses. In the end I've gone with the blue / white color scheme.

First up my Mazon Labs security troopers are blue and white. I'll be using these a lowly rent-a-cops and tier 2 security in Hardwired.

The other reason I've gone for this color scheme is to fit the other Blue Sun stuff I've made, having already build a Blue Sun tuk-tuk.

This is a nice and bulky model, one of those that the kids can play with, without any fear it might get broken by it.

Terrain: C.A.T. Terminals

These are models from Mantic Games Star Saga - I backed the kickstarter way back. I've never gotten around to playing Star Saga, but there's so many cool models in the kit (and I do love Deadzone).

Besides being terrain in Deadzone, they'll work as C.A.T. terminals in Reality's Edge. There's six of them in the Star Saga box, so that's more than enough.

Painting:
This was a pretty quick paint job. I base coated in black and drybrushed with some dark metal. The screens were painted a goblin green, then I painted the white symbols and lines on top. Then last it has to layers of Vallejo fluorescent (i doesn't glow in the dark) green. The colors covers really bad, so you can still spot the lines underneath - but it does appear to have a glow.

Super quick little thing, but the color should make them stand out on the board - easy to find objectives in the games.

The console cowboy (a hacker) in my first Reality's Edge crew. This is 'Circuit' doing his thing.

Star Saga / Deadzone: Mazon Lab 100 pts

Mazon Lab is the evil cooperation doing nasty plague research in the Star Saga board game. They're also a faction in Deadzone, getting rules in Containment Protocols. This is 100 pts demo list I've put together using those rules.

The plague victims are not actually a part of the basic list, but the leader might raise them from dead humanoid allies.

Besides using these models in Deadzone games and Star Saga. I will be using a lot of these in Osprey Games Reality's Edge cyberpunk games. I don't think Mr. Squid and the plague victims are gonna fit. But the evil doctor, lab technicians and the troopers will.

I intend to use the troopers as police troopers, painting various models in the same style. But these are the first members of the police force.

I've painted the lab technicians the same way as many of my plague models are painted, same uniform. The orange on the plague victims are also seen in more models. It'll allow me to run so many various themed scenarios, mixing and matching the models.

100 pts - Mazon Labs

The leader Dr. Lukas Koyner and a few lab technicians. Gone with the same colors as on Dr. Simmons and many plague zombies.

I tried making a different look on the monopose plague victims. I've changed arm and leg positions with boiling water. I've also gone for different metal colors, blood stains and hair color on them. The also have bone in various areas.

I've not cut and head swapped etc. because I want the models strong. This will allow my kids to play with them, without breaking them.

The Mazon Lab marines and rangers are actually bad guys, at least in the Warpath Universe. But I'm also gonna use these as police troopers in cuber punk games.

The chovar Organic Data Storage Unit X-02-A is a super nice model. An enslaved psychic alien.
