Inq28 - Inquisitor Warband - WIP

 I don't play Warhammer 40k, Killteam or Necromunda. I do however love inquisitors and their warbands. I've been wanted some team for years. This Ordo Heriticus inquisitor is made on the basis of a Dungeons and Laser witchhunter model with some easy conversion bits. 

He's a bit small in scale, but paint will hide much of such a scale difference.

His Interogator is made from a Dunkeldorf miniature. Had to do a bit of cutting in the metal, as it's a monopose cast miniature. But it wasn't too hard to add an archaic looking las pistol and deathly token in her other hand. The inqusitorial symbol fit nicely as a pendant around the neck.

Redemptionists are wicked awesome. I have some unbuild for Necromunda. I 've been using old warhammer flaggelant bodies, random 40k arms and cultist heads from frostgrave. This is why I love plastic! Redemptionists and flames goes hand in hand. So this guy has a flamer.

Same base. Flaggelant and cultist head. Then kitbashed a bit chainsword for this guy.

This redemtionist is based on a dunkeldorf female flaggelant miniature. Only took a few bits to make a perfect redemptionist.

Ministorum Priest. Makes sense that an Ordo Hereticus inquisitor is being followed around by a priest and his acolyte. These are also the guys who's brough in the redemptionists. 

One guy is an old Forge World Empire Warrior priest. The other guy is an actual 40k miniature, that was lacking his weapons. 

Crusader. This is build on an old void plastic miniature (a freebie with some order one time). The shield is a square riot shield longed with an old empire shied. I added a resin cape from Anvil Industries. The head is an empire head I think, from the old state troopers.

This pilot is from the old assault on black reach kit. An ansolutely amazing core box with great terrain and miniatures. I not really done anything other than small greenstuff work on his ammo case, turning it into a medpack. This is the team medic.

Adeptus Arbities. I've read Eisenhorn a lot of times. This model was started way before Necromunda was rebooted and there came great arbites there. Some void model as the crusader, perry miniatures medieval head and a combat shotgun.

The powermaul is kitbashed from random bit box bits.

Truescale Deathwatch marine. This is not intended to be a primaris marines. Made him deathwatch with a shoulder pad, had some resin candles from anvil industries. Candles on your power backpack? Why? Because it's awesome and grimdark.

The head was chosen because it's cool with targetting system. 

The cherubs are from some old devastator squad. They're carrying a melta bomb normally. I've just made them carry some cool symbols, changed the wings on one cherub to make the different. 

Arco-flaggelants. Condemned heretics. These are made from GW ghould bodies, greenstuff wires and various flail bits. Fairly simple conversions.

And the entire Inqusitorial Warband ready for paint.

RoSD: The Discord Lockdown Cam Crew

[This blogpost was written long ago and never posted. It's from way back in Covid times.] 

... Covid lockdown was hard. Long and terrible. It's been absolutely killing my motivation for doing the miniature hobby, as it's the social aspect that motivates me. It's always the next game / play date that motivates me to actually do terrain building and painting. 

I tried the solo game / streaming thing to motivate myself, but it wasn't the same. So I decided to play a few games of RoSD with some friends from old. I play some PC games with them, but non of them are in the miniature hobby anymore. 

It worked well and was a nice day of gaming. We played through The Missing mission with some new Rangers. They made concepts and I picked out and painted some models to fit it. 

Macho 300 melee guy
"Make me a full testosterone warrior, like in 300!". Done. Build from a Oathmark human with some added GW marauder bits. This is a grizzled veteran fighter, seen enough combat to not care about apperances. 

Painted him in my city guard colors, so he can one day join a unit of spearmen in Oathmark.

A simple recruit made from a Perry Miniatures model with some bits. Also works as a puny city guardsman.

Classic ranger

Decided to build a more classic ranger for myself. Bow, two-handed sword on the back. Made from an Oathmark human and some different elf bits. 

My guy is also bringing a simple city guard, drafted from a nearby town to help the crew. Model is a Perry Miniature with oathmark goblin ax and GW elven shield. 

Arcane Crossbowman

"Build me an arcane crossbowman. A bit of magic, crossbow, ranger looking type. And his bodyguard psycho!" Made this dude from a Frostgrave cultist, GW elf head and some other bit box bits. 

The psycho bodyguard is a Frostgrave cultist head, added to an Oathmark goblin body and some GW lizardmen skink arms. 

Druid

"I want to be a nature loving, tree hugging druid". Made from Frostgrave female soldier with a bit of elven bits added and some cool forest base - don't know where that is from. 

Anyways the player decided to ditch this character just before the game and went with a classic barbarian instead. So picked out my savage from Ghost Archipelago for that. 

The games

Not gonna write any report on the games, it was great fun and the scenarios were hard enough to play through. But no focus on taking photos and such. So here's just a few quick shots from the games.

Slugde: Shock Troopers and Cannon

Time for some more Sludge. For Sludge I got myself one box of Wargames Atlantic french ww1 troops, because it had so many masked heads. I also got a buch of Napoleonics (for hats) and Perry knights for armor. 

Shock Troopers

Shock Troopers are cool elite troops. They don't have bayonettes, they have melee weapons for storming trenches and can equip greanades. I decided to give them bear skin hats (and masks) to show their elite status. 

They have more armor than regular line infantry. I used Perry knight bodies (armor on torso and legs), but used a knife to could the leg armor into pants. The shock troopers are not fully armored. 

I assebled them with a mix of close combat weapons and carbine rifles. They carry the other set as gear. 

Cloaks added as on all the army with toilet paper / super glue. 

For story in the army, I've made sergeants on the command bases for the Line Infantry. These guys have the same gear as the Shock Troopers, to show that these can be put in command of line infantry. I used the ww1 frech sergent bodies for these (same defence as line infantry, so no armor plating on these). 

I made the hats/helmets/masks. Cut the helmet part of the ww1 head (so only the mask and brim remain). Cut face of a french napoleon soldier. Glue together. 

I went with the same color scheme for these. Yellow, grey, black, red. Heavy wash and drybrush. So all seems dirty, dusty, muddy. 

Artillery

I was gifted two cool little pieces of cannon. 3d resin prints, but not fitting the style of the first guy who got them. So they were passed to me. I made the crew from bits I had. Some ww1 sergeant bodies, some napoleonic bodies (the command frame had a carpenter in apron). Found some suitable bits in the bit box. Small axes, hammers, torch, made that 'clean the cannon' thing from a spear and a bit of greenstuff. Made cannon balls with green stuff and did some hand switching. 

The metal masks, whatever they are, are also from the ww1 french. Don't know what it's meant to be. Haven't seen them in real life.

Sludge: Line Infantry

 A big part of the awesome Sludge look is from massive groups of Line Infantry. The multi-miniature bases is such a good idea to get a mass battle look, with quick movement. 

I wanted to field two huge groups of Line Infantry. So I've made two full regiments of 6 bases. So that's 12 bases of three miniatures. 

My infantry is made almost entirely from Wargames Atlantic WWI French. The box is awesome and comes with 35 miniatures (and 70 gasmask heads). I wanted my army to look uniformed and spend quite a bit of time planning where to use which bits. 

All my Line Infantry is armed the same way, there's a few (like three) bodies from Napoleon Elite French, to have enough bodies. All have added toilet paper / super glue cloaks. I've used a mix of backpacks from both the WWI and Napoleon kits. In order to have as many different looks as possible. 

The Command bases are the only one to feature conversion work. I've used Perry Miniatures pike arms for the banner flags. The drummers are made with bit box magic. Warhammer bits. A dwarf and empire drum. Drumsticks made from arrow wielding arms. Straps from paper and super glue. 

The sergeants are made to look like my Shock Troopers. The have bear pelt hats (a cut and glue job with a wwI head), bucklers, pistols and a different style mask. These come from the ranks of shock troopers and heavy cavalry. So these will all have the same kind of head.

Painted line infantry

I decided quickly on a paint scheme. Yellow and grey for the uniform, with black and red spot colors. 

The primary concern for the project was getting it done quickly. Paint quick base layers, nevermind small mistakes, only have one brown (the base coat), wash, drybrush and done. 

The miniatures are all washed in strong tone and drybrushed with dark sand all over. The cloaks have been washed in different types, strong, dark, flesh wash, light and soft tone. To add some variation on that part. 

Banners

I've used the excellent Coat of Arms maker online, tilted the shields and turned them into banners for the army. I have some excellent decals from Carthage Must Be Destroyed, so took an animal for banners, that I also have decals off.
