Guilders: Let's Play - Pick Your Poison

Here's the third solo playtest game I've filmed of Guilders: A Life In Shadows.

In this scenario my guild is going to rob a new alchemist store in the city. Here's the introduction from the rulebook.

A newly arrived Alchemist from a far-away land have set up shop in the city. Through neglect, error or arrogance (that is unknown), the alchemist is not yet a member of any Guild (that is known). Time to get some free supplies is short, quickly now before a member fee or protection money find the Old Alchemists Guild!

This video is cut a bit tighter than the others. As this only shows the actual gameplay. The aftergame section: XP, injuries, jobs etc. will be covered in another video.

Guilders in general is pretty far. Nearly done reading the entire thing for corrections and grammar - it's taken a long time. This heatwave is really not leaving a lot of brain activity for that part.

I've also had a lot of artwork made for the game. So all in all it's going really good.

Guilders - Let's Play and Logo

 Hello hobby people!

A few news about Guilders: A Life In Shadows. Work continues - but it's slow. Sommertime is different hobbytime for me, it's all outside stuff. So miniature hobby is always on a slow burn this time of year.

That being said, there's a few news regarding Guilders.

Logo

I've comissioned a logo for the game. There's some minor tweaks being worked out - like switching the scales, so the illegal part is heavier.

But I don't want to wait with putting out new stuff, so here's the first official logo.

Youtube - Let's Play

I've edited the second solo play video and uploaded it to youtube. In this scenario my solo play guild is going into a temple, to rob all the old relics. They are however protected by paladins.

Go check out the movie - it covers everything. Lots of rules, guild, skills and the entire end game sequence. That's also why it's rather long.

Show some love and hellp spread the word. I want Guilders to get out there. I plan to do a larger amount of SoMe stuff over the summer. So please help out by growing the various platforms. Go to the linktree and drop follows all over the place.

Let's Play - A Regular Days Work - Guilders Solo

A couple of weeks ago I sat down and started testing the solo capabilities of Guilders - A Life In Shadows. All scenarios will need a couple of solo playtests from myself. Both to check who the campaign works and if the scenarios are fun.

Playing the three games did bring up a few point that I need to tweak, but nothing major.

The first solo Let's Play is now up on YouTube. And this video will cover the entire section of a game.

I've added timestamp / chapters to the video for easier watching. The video is fairly long but it will cover:

My Guild: All the characters, quick description

Setup: How the board, objectives and civilians

Full Game: A full 6 turn long game, with descriptions of what goes on in the different phases.

End Game Sequnece: All the RPG elements going on in a game. XP, Loot, Injuries, Roam the City.

This video will give a fairly good overview of the game and definately make it easier for people to read and understand the rules.

I have a bunch of How To Play and two more Let's Play videos filmed. Just need editing and will be posted in the future.

I would love feedback on both my video - editing stuff if really new to me and I learn stuff each time.

The rules. Read them, check them, play if you want. All manner of feedback is appreciated. You can find the rules and the various SoMe on the Linktree.

Let's Play: Hardwired - Scientist Capture / Extraction

In this game of Hardwired my agetns are send into a jungle to capture and extract a valuable scientist. H-sec is already swarming the area and they will have to work quickly to get it done.

Recorded a full Let's Play and put it on Youtube.

Here's a bunch of photos from the terrain setup. Used my home made aquarium plant jungle and a 4ground control center I once bought on a sale from Northstar.

Let's Play: Hardwired - Junk Yard Clearout

Had a couple of Hardwired games, solo on the twitch. An elegant little system and with a bit of planned out terrain you can easily play to games in a single night.

For the first game my agents are moving into a junkyard trying to clear out some people living there, the space need using for something else.

Wanted to play on my dessert map, but have to build some more sand terrain, fitting the mat.

Unfortuantely Patrick Todoroff has been hit with some annoying legal trouble and has to rename the game system to something else. So we'll see what comes of that.

Let's Play: Hardwired - Radar Station Data Exfiltration

Took my Hardwired agents into the badlands. An old military outpost has been hit by a chemical attack and abandoned. The agents have been hired to get into the area, exfiltrate some sensitive data and avoid getting shot to pieces.

Setup
Used some different pieces form the collection, to build a small military base.

Let's play
Here's a video with the game, roughly an hour. Hardwired is such a nice quick game to play. Perfect for one or two games in an evening, easy to make up scenarios for it.

Let's Play: Hardwired - Expedited Delivery

First time playing some Hardwired on the stream. Recorded live and uploaded to Youtube. The Let's Play is also embedded below. In this scenario the four agents Brick, Gator, Conduit and Spotless are going into a market to deliver some stolen data. The contact is a member of the Purple Hands gang.

Setup

Took out a bunch of terrain from the collection and tried building a buzzing neon lighted market place. All my cyberpunk terrain stuff is collected here

Let's Play
Here's the gameplay video showing the game.

The Walking Dead: Days Gone By chapter 3

Next up in my attempt to play through The Walking Dead all solo is chapter three - Campfire Tales.

Rick has made it out of Atlanta - but only barely. You can check a video of my playing scenario number two: City Slicker right here.

But my camera messed up and didn't capture my first attempt at the second scenario. And that was rough. The game started out well with Rick finding Riot Gear and Hand Grenades. But right in the end it ended with Rick getting swarmed.

So for this third scenario the survivors have no equipment bonus from scenario two and Rick starts the game already wounded.

Setup

Made a quick little forrest setup. There's step-by-step blogs for the woods here. Used my TT Combat RV and some tents from Renedra. Fits the scenario description fairly well.

Youtube video

And here's a video of my run of the scenario. I nice game, had great fun with it.

Frostgrave: Perilous Dark - Writhing Fumes

And so it came to be! Frostgrave 2nd edition arrived. I've been looking forward to it for a long time. And keeping in with my 2020 Year of the Solo Game plan, I'm getting straight into the Perilous Dark campaign. A video of the first scenario Writhing Fumes are down the page. But first the warband introduction.

Warband

For this campaign I've made a new warband. A dwarf enchanter and some trust companions.

In the middle raising his tankard is Orlaf Tungsten - dwarf enchanter. And next to him is Bjornulf the Fair (his apprentice) and Captain Grimeye smoking a pipe.

His spells are: Animate Construct (failed before first game), Enchant Weapon and Strength. For beefing up the team. Then he's bringing Summon Animal (failed), Write Scroll (made an elemental bolt), Heal, Elemental Bolt and Leap.

The rest of the starting warband from the left is: Siguard (thug prospector), Arn (thug from the old days), Haralf Oaken (crossbowman), Birch (bowman), apprentice, wizard, captain, Ulrich Darkiron (infantryman), Birger (thugh) and Soot (thief).

Setup

I've setup the board according to the perilous dark description. A blocked archway in one corner (the entry to a weapon factory) is the goal. Five spawn points for Vapour Snakes (the discs) and two Ballista II golems. The rest of the board is covered in ruins and scatter.

Check all my Frostgrave terrain here

The Game

Check out the entire game here. Since this is the first video with Frostgrave, there a tiny bit of rules talking at the beginning and of cause there's campaign rolls at the end.

Please drop a follow on the youtube channel if you enjoy my stuff (it's new and needs to grow).

The Walking Dead: Days Gone By chapter 2

Time to play the second game in Days Gone By for Mantic Games The Walking Dead: All Out War

In the first game Rick, Morgan and Duane managed to get a bag of guns from the Atlanta police station and all the supplies on the board. So for this scenario Rick started with 20 extra points for equipment.

Rick went into the game with a hatchet, bandages and a horse. In my first play of this scenario, the camera messed up and didn't save the video. But in that try Rick lost, he died swarmed by walkers. Didn't secure any supplies. Let's see if he does better this time.

The video is inserted below or linked here. You can see all my Walking Dead videos in a special playlist for that game.

Setup for the game. Made a small board looking like an inside of the Atlanta. Pust some buildings in the corners all for looks, a small house in the center and some cars. You can check out all my different modern terrain here.

The Walking Dead: Days Gone By chapter 1 - youtube

Recently I played some games of The Walking Dead: All Out War. And it's actually been a long time since I've played the game. I really enjoyed it. So I decided to take up the narrative solo campaign again.

I've already played through the first three scenarios, but it's been such a long time. So I setup my new cameras and decided to stream the game.

Here's my setup. This entire streaming and video thing is pretty new. But it's good fun and I'll get to generate some material for Youtube.

How about dropping over and putting a follow on both Twitch and Youtube

So starting from the beginning. Rick, Morgan and Duane are heading towards Ricks old police station, to get themselves a lot of guns! Check out how it went in the video below.

Setup
The gaming area is on a 2'x2' deep cut mat, so a bit larger than the rules suggest. The houses are just for flair and look, not really part of the gaming area. The objective was to get near the police station and break down the door.

I've written blog post for all the terrain used in the video. Check out my modern terrain here

Thank you for watching! Let me know what you think, this is new territory for me, so input is much appreciated.

Rangers of Shadow Deep: The Bridge Guards

I've been gearing up for this RoSD game for a good amount of time. Been waiting for some terrain from Tiny Wargames and needed to have Tor Varden build. So after finishing the first part of the dungeon board, it was time.

First mission is to get to the old watch tower, crossing a river guarded by gnolls. I've put together a group of rangers including the survivors from the Blood Moon scenario. I will be playing the mission 'hard', so no changing out companions during the missions three scenarios.

A written account with pictures is detailed below along with words on the end game and terrain.

Filmed a game
This is also the first time actually streaming and filming a game that I've done. It's uploaded to youtube, so if your modern in that regard have a look at it. And please consider dropping a follow on the Twitch and YouTube channels - trying to expand this video part of the bloggerverse.

Setup
I've tried to get as close to the scenario description as possible. The bridge and the ford are their. Lots of rock and bushes to block line of sight. I've even painted up a small cauldron / cooking pot for the fire in the camp - as it's described in the book.

Lots of homemade stuff with step-by-step blogs in the terrain page.

The game
My ranger Haelga and her trusted companions were sneaking through the rocky landscape on their way to Tor Varden. The gnoll guards near the river and on the bridge had no idea there were enemies on the way.

As part of the scenario, my rangers would have a better chance at killing the gnolls until the alarm was sounded. And this was the plan, with three archers, it should be possible to take down some enemy gnoll archers - and gang up on the close combat enemies.

Recruit Wurt is checking out the area, with archer Pine near his side.

Ranger Haelga with veteran soldier Covin and the woodcutter Seb. Taking up the center of the board.

Enemy gnolls guarding the bridge, two fighters lead by a sergeant. A gnoll archer can been seen near the river.

Hopefully my rangers would be able to cross the bridge and get into the camp. There are both treasure to be reclaimed for Alladore and some clues as to what might be happening af Tor Varden.

Another archer near the river. There were four deadly archers patrolling the river bank.

From the start it seemed like the plan would be good. The first couple of rounds were spend sneaking closer to the enemies, keeping hidden in the shadows of the cliffs. Waiting for the perfect shot to take down the archers.

Unfortunately the random movement of the gnolls, soon brought the models into guarding teams, making it impossible to take out the enemies without raising the alarm.

In the end my ranger tried taking the shot, she hit but failed to take down the enemy and the alarm was raised.

During the different events, more and more gnolls kept sweeping into the area. My band of rangers were forced to split up, to take out the archers that were delivering a nasty amount of damage to the good guys.

But after some hard fights, my very wounded heroes did manage to take control of the battle field.

Fairly early in the game, a blood vulture came swooping down from the cliffs. A magically bound agent of the Shadow Deep, this bird would bring message to Tor Varden - leaving the prepared for my incoming assault. It was important for my troops to bring down the beast! And that tied up two of my archers for helping in the fight against the gnolls.

Time was running out and the main force was still tied up fighting enemy gnolls among the cliffs. Haelga commanded two of her companions to enter the gnoll camp to search for clues and treasure - figuring the help would be needed later in the mission.

The recruit secures some treasure, stolen from Lorenthia or Alladore - there was no way the gnolls had earned this in a lawful manner.

In the end the ranger band succeeded, the last of the gnoll fighters were brought down. Unfortunately both Bertha the woman-at-arms and Seb the Woodcutter had been wounded during the fight. And it was real close tipping in favor of the enemy.

The blood vulture was brought down by arrows, before it managed to escape the battle field. The gang of rangers of Alladore would be able to travel towards Tor Varden - without the enemies being alerted to the incoming attack.

Wurt the recruit guarding the bridge, keeping look out for further enemies. Meanwhile Haelga was attending the wounds of here companions.

End game
That game was way closer than what was comfortable. The ranger and here companions were all wounded by the end of the game. Some were really close to being taken out of action.

Seb the Woodcutter turned out to only have small wound, a knock to the head had brought him down. Nothing he wasn't able to shake off with a bit of time.

Bertha the Woman-at-Arms got here arm crushed, she would no longer be as good a companion in the fight. Bandaged up, she would still have to fight, no time for rest. But should she survive the mission, she might have to return to guard duty in a sleepy village.

After breaking the lock on the chest, the group found a pair of magical gauntlets. The gauntlets would be able to give the wearer great strength for a few important situations. The strong bear of a man Seb, was handed the gloves. He mighty axe would now be even more deadly.

This was the fourth mission for my ranger Haelga and it brought her to level 2. The stat increase went to shooting, bringing her to a +3 in Shoot.
