Terrain: Hover Boats

I love the Fifth Element, especially the first part set on Earth. And the flying Noodle Boat is iconic to me, I've wanted to bring it into a game since I started playing Deadzone. With Reality's Edge coming out, it was the perfect time to actually make some hover boats.

I've bought some cheap wood (it's not mdf) model kits from ebay, I just did a search for 'Chinese fishing boat'. The scale is a bit off to 28-32mm gaming, but they're easy to upgrade. There's WIP shots at the end of the blog.

I've used the same flystand for both hover boats. I sawed a Mantic flier one in half, to use one for both.

Hover Taxi
Base coasted all the part with yellow spray. Added a few Ramshackle Games resin bits (excellent and cheap stuff) to make it pop a bit. Stuck on a few cocktail umbrellas - gave them a soft tone wash from Army Painter.

Found an asian looking font on the internet and made some 'taxi' signs. Also did an images search for white-black pattern and copy pasted them together in paint. The 'taxi file' is uploaded in the Cyberpunk Miniature Gaming group on Facebook.

Printed on regular paper and glued on with wood glue.

Flying Little Ramen
There's a cool scenario in Reality's Edge in which both crews try to protect a Ramen truck, going through a bad neighborhood. And this is my version of that Fifth Element ramen ship. Another Chinese fishing boat.

I've upgraded this one with some extra neon acrylic signs I had left from TT Combat food stalls. They come with two each, and on some of them I've only used one. Then I added a few 40k bits and Ramshackle Game bits.

I also didn't glue the roofs on the different sections, so that you can move models around inside the boat.

A google image search gave me different menus, that I scaled down in word and printed.

WIP photos
A few different WIP shots of the builds. Also added details to the underside of the boats. An absolute unnecessary use of time - as it'll never be seen. No matter, it's cool.

Terrain: C.A.T. Terminals

These are models from Mantic Games Star Saga - I backed the kickstarter way back. I've never gotten around to playing Star Saga, but there's so many cool models in the kit (and I do love Deadzone).

Besides being terrain in Deadzone, they'll work as C.A.T. terminals in Reality's Edge. There's six of them in the Star Saga box, so that's more than enough.

Painting:
This was a pretty quick paint job. I base coated in black and drybrushed with some dark metal.The screens were painted a goblin green, then I painted the white symbols and lines on top. Then last it has to layers of Vallejo fluorescent (i doesn't glow in the dark) green. The colors covers really bad, so you can still spot the lines underneath - but it does appear to have a glow.

Super quick little thing, but the color should make them stand out on the board - easy to find objectives in the games.

Terrain: Zombie Nests / Radioactive Areas

Made these zombie spawn points for This Is Not A Test, using in the scenario pest control. A good way to spawn the 40 wasteland zombies I've made for the game.

This was a pretty easy build. The pipes are from Mantic Games battle zone system, added the same type of super glue lid as I've used on the irradiator zombies - tying things together.

Drowned the base in some glue and then painted with Nurgles Rot and the painted the edges with Vallejo fluorescent green, as a glow.

Ghost Archipelago: Animals

Time for another addition to my Ghost Archipelago bestiary. As I've known for a long time I wanted to play the game, I've collected toy animals for an equally long time. Thrift stores will get you everything you need to get, if you look long enough.

Turtles
Both of the giant snapping turtles are toys, I didn't even do a repaint on these. Brown wash and basing - done. The tutles fit neatly on 40mm bases.

Soldier Crab
Another lucky toy find, this took awhile and was wondering if I would ever find one. Found it only a couple weeks before the first games. Another easy brown wash + basing model. Put on a 50mm base.

Giant Lizards
Another set of toys, I didn't find these at a thrift store - I got them from my kid. The youngest loves playing with my miniatures and have nothing against giving up a few toys for upgrading. I gave the eyes on the lizards a black color and then a brown wash overall. Simple trick again. 40mm bases.

Crocodile
The crocodile is another toy. There's some very good crocodile miniatures out there, but I'm cheap and found this one - it'll do the trick. As far as toys go, this is not as good as many of the others. I had to do a complete repaint on this one.

Anaconda
Toy snake, glued to a fairly large base. Looked at some photos of anacondas online and did a repaint. The black spots are better muted in real life, the photos make them stand out too much.

Giant snakes
Toys again, only gave them a brown wash and repainted eyes. Had to curl them up a bit tighter to fit on the base and secure them with super glue.

Tiger
The king of the jungle. I've already painted a tiger, that I'm very proud off: Shiva. But she has asphalt on here base, so wanted to do another one fitting for the jungle board. But toy big cats are hard to find in a good quality. After a repaint, this is decent - the painting is good. The model itself is mediocre. But it's free and it's a 'clear' on the list.

Mountain goats
These are actual models from the Warlord Games Farm Animal sets. The animals set is great and will give lots of objectives for other games as well. Also comes with some dogs, that's also a warband member i lots of settings. The animals are on the small side though.

Sharks and needle fish
I was originally planning on making sharks, by simply making a fin sticking out of water. But then I came across these weird dinosaur aquatic beasts. These have now become count ass needle fish and sharks in the came.

Octopike
It's not spiked like in the beast description, simply a small octopus toy, with a repaint and on a water base.

Gorilla
I've painted a couple of white gorillas for the Frozen City version of Frostgrave - but they're not gonna work in a jungle. Another toy found at a thrift store, did a quick repaint of the model - black and grey.

TNT: Post Apocalypse Scatter

Here's a few colored scatter pieces for post apocalypse games. These are gonna see the board of pretty much every game I play. Walking Dead, This Is Not A Test, Reality's Edge and Last Days.

A friend of mine pointed out, that I needed spot colors on my wasteland board - as it was pretty much brown and grey nuances. And that looks just like the wasteland I really want - but a few spot colors does a lot for the look.

The toilets are resin pieces from TTCombat, a great little set. I thought there was only one in the pack so I was presently surprised that I got four of them. A quick blue base coat, white roof and then some graffiti.Graffiti is made with Posca markers, excellent wet acrylic markers. A bit pricey, but great for making cool graffiti.

The other pieces are some barricades from zombicide. I got these in the 3d door pack, because I want to upgrade all my mdf buildings. The barricades are two piece sets and the connecting pieces have a nice traffic cone shape. So from four barricades, I managed to get 6 barricades. I filled the bottom of the mattresses with sprue and coffee stirrers. 

Ramshackle Games: Dungers

Dungers are a weird mutated bear/boar creature from Ramshackle Games. Curtis Fell have made a huge lot of different sizes and versions of these creatures. I've picked up a few different ones at a Black Friday sale - the meanest looking ones.

Painting and basing
I've painted these in the quickest possible way I could. Different brown base coats, drybrushing and wash - done. Super quick. I made some fairly neutral bases as well, dirt, grass and stones. I didn't put rusty junk on them or bright green colors. This way I can use the models across settings.

Here's the small herd of dungers - guarded by a dunger riding shephard. The start of a This Is Not A Test warband.

Here's a photo of them between regular green trees - fitting quite nicely in a fantasy setting as well. So I'll probably stick them in both Frostgrave and Ragnarok.

And then I've used the dungers for my TNT post apocalypse trader caravan.
