Daemon Prince of Nurgle

My kids simply loves Nurgle. Back when 8th edition 40k came out, I bought a ton of Nurgle and Deathguard stuff for cheap or free (the regular buy, resell, break even trick). Also got the Forge World daemon prince of nugle miniature.

It's been in the garage for years, but now it's painted up. All Army Painter Speedpaint (except the metal). Also gave it a gloss varnish for that shiny wet and gross look.

I'm especially happy with the look that came out on the rusted decayed metal parts.

I made the hoses from the arm to the barrel myself with greenstuff, I must have lost the originals at some point.

He's standing nice and gross in the cabinet with the other nurgle dudes.

I mostly do non GW stuff, all manner of smaller indie and skirmish games. I post about it here and there, my main pressence is over on Discord. So maybe jump in there and have a look. It's all collected over on LinkTree

40k: Pox Walkers

Mutated space zombies of Nurgle! These little guys are so nice, but there's only 10 different models and I own 100 of them. That means conversions, even though they are only worth 6 points pr. model.

At some point I want all 100 models painted up and fielded along my 40 cultist models - for a complete zombie spam list. No idea if it'll work, but it will be really funny.

For the first batch of 24 models (the amount I could fit in my first 2k painted list), I've only gona for swapping out arms, weapons and heads. So there's one vanilla model of each kind and all the others have had heads, arms and weapons swapped around.

I've also gone for saving some of the cool bits in my bit box and had added tentacles and other stuff instead. Another conversion I've used is taking of a horn here and there.

Besides the conversions, I've made sure to mix the colours on clothing and weapons. So the same base model doesn't have the same colours in the same areas. For tentacles and boils I used a wet pallette and blended yellows, greens and purples. Hard to see in the photos, but those are all different colour tones.

It's an easy way to make the models appear unique.

Original on the left. The wrench club is a cool bit box, for some post apocalypse project. Added a hand from a ghoul instead.

Been using some head swaps, shortened the horn on one guy. I've changed the angle on one hammer, removed an arm for a tentacle. Added a gun to one model, don't know where that bit is from.

I actuallythink the officer jacket guy is the worst model in the batch (could be painted as a doctor I guess). The hammer is simply too big. Shortend a horn, added other weapon bits. Rearranged one tentacle arm. The head with the cap is from Mantic Stage 3a Plague units.

The rusty bayonet rifle is another bit, too cool to just stay on a pox walker. Saved one for the bit box and added some ghoul hands instead. Also took one spike of the original model.

Head swap and a hammerhead added to this one. The hammer is from some old GW dwarf warriors.

The guy with the extra arm was obvious to convert. Made one into a horn, removed an arm from the other. Also changed the weapon and made head swaps.

The old flamer club is another bit I wanted to save for the bit box, so made a hammer instead. The head on the hammer guy is made from a spike (cut off a plague marine) and a Stage 2a head (Mantic Games model).

Another Stage 2a head done here and a weapon removed.

The bionic arm is way too cool to sit on these models, so those I want to save. One have an arm from a Stage 3a and the other has a spawn tentacle. I also reposed the orginal tentacle arm on one and gave the other a ghoul hand.

As I just took out some random pox walkers (had 40 assembled at the time), I happend to jsut get one of this type. So nothing has been done to him.

The horde! 24 pox walkers ready to eat and infect the enemies. 76 to go!

40k: Noxious Blightbringer

The bellringer. Such a cool model and absolutely essentiel if the slow Death Guard army is to get anywhere in the movement phase. I did some very easy conversions on this guy, I cut off some of his plague censors, I think the original has too many. The model looks a bit too cluttered with it all.

As I've done with all the pther plasma weapons in the army, I've painted this one blue. For easy identification on the battlefield.

40k: Malignant Plague Caster

The Malignant Plague Caster is a chaos sorcerer for the Death Guard. At first i really disliked the face on the model, but painted it looks okay. I some regards he's better than a regular sorcerer, because he inflicts extra damage when doing good die rolls. ... I just tend to forget all those special rules.

40k: Foetid Bloat-Drones

I think these are some of the coolest models I've ever owned. Dark, grim, ugly. They fit my image of the dark 40k setting perfectly.

Besides being cool looking, they are brutal on the battle field. I've no plan of running them with flesh-mowers or greater blight launchers. The plague spitter in combination with the FLY rule is a bloody combo. A must in a Death Guard army.

I've been very succesful with keeping a Herald of Nurgle nearby, buffing the strength of their weapons and healing them if injured.

I haven't done any conversion work on these models. But I have used different colours for the skin, boils and metals. And added some different stripe patterns on the front of them as well.

I have three more of these models, but I'm gonna convert them into Mythic Blighthaulers instead. Get a bunch of cool bits from them as well.

40k: Herald of Nurgle

Got this lovely sluggish Herald of Nurgle from an auction. He's part of a kit with a Demon Prince called Mamon. I really don't like painting and working with resin, but this model is super cool. Much cooler than the ordinary plastic Herald of Nurgle.

Though not part of the Death Guard, he'll see much use in my games.

He's also a steal on the battle field. Cheap in points, boosting the strength of all demons (and so also Mortarion and my drones). And he can heal other demons as well.

40k: Typhus - Host of the Destroyer Hive

I've created my own version fo Typhus from the Dark Imperium Lord of Contagion. The open belly has been covered up with greenstuff, his arms are repositioned. I've added some choped of heads from my bits box.

The scythe blade is made from plastic card and is done in the same style as my converted Mortarion and Deathshroud Terminators. The screw nuts are made from a Green Stuff World press mold, an excellent little tool.

The head is an old (several editions back) chaos warrior from Fantasy. The first multi pose chaos warriors. The horn is from the shoulder of the Lord of Contagion.

The Destroyer Hive pipes on his back is made from chopped up lollipop sticks and greenstuff. And I've used a bit of greenstuff to fit the cloak around some of the pipes.

Lastly I've added a plague censor to he's scythe, to make it a bit bigger than those on the Deathshroud bodyguard.

I've painted Typhus in the same colours as the rest of the army. All the metals are a wet palette mix of different metals, so most metal areas is in a different tone.

The scythe (like all plague weapons) is covered in both Blood for the Blood God and Nurgles Rot.

40k: Death Guard 2nd Marine Squad

My second seven man strong squad of marines. All converted from Dark Imperium mono posers. Made so no model is like any in my first squad.

Lots of head, backpack and weapon swaps done on these guys. Also cutting away some excess details (I think there's too many horns and plague censors on some models).

Like my first shooter squad, this is made with a champion, two blight launchers and an Icon of Despair.

Bases are done with slime on each one, with bubbles made from half pearls. Also added rusted iron debris from twisted sprue.

The champion is the standard model from the Dark Imperium set. Going for one of each, there was no reason to convert this guy. Unlike the one in my other squad, who's build from a Blight Bringer.

My blight launchers are from Mantic Games, comes on their Plague Stage 3a sprues. Fit perfectly on the marines. I've painted yellow / black hazzard stripes on them, for easy identification on the battlefield.

The Icon of Despair is from the Nurgle Daemon Plague Bearers. One of the marines had a perfect post for carrying a banner. The checkered pattern is featured through out the army. And is done on a lot of the dark red fabrics. Like the hoods of my Death Shroud Terminators.

I think this guy originally had a plague knife in the one hand. Gave him his bolter instead, as he's in a shooty squad.

40k: Death Guard 1st Marine Squad

My first squad of regular Death Guard marines. All models are from the Dark Imperium box set, but I've made some conversions. I'm going for a 'no two models alike' in the army.

It's quite easy to do some simple conversions to get this, as the clunky nature of the marines begs conversion. So you might notice some head-, weapon- and backpack swaps. I've also made sure to drill out all weapon barrels.

I'll be making all the squads 7 man strong (Nurgle's holy number). It might not always make the most tactical sense in the game, but I always play for the rule of cool.

The entire 1st Squad in all its rotten glory.

The champion in this squad is converted from a Noxious Blightbringer. He's had his bell removed and the large horn re-arrenged. The powerfist is added from the original Champion and the plasma gun is from the bit box.

I've gone with a blue glow for all plasma weapons in the army, for easy identification during gaming.

The blight launcher (greande launcher) weapon options seems the best allrounder, especially after falling in points from Chapter Approved 2017.

For the bligh launchers I've used the greande launcher bit from Mantic Games Plague Stage 3a. The scale fits perfectly with the marines.

The first marine is converted from a Champion model. I've added a head from Fantasy Blight Kings. Made a hood and tongue from greenstuff. The other marine is a standard marine, with the weapon swap and his helmet spike removed.

I've painted hazard stripes on the blight launchers, for easy idenfication during gaming.

Again going by the rule of cool, I want banners in all my squads. I don't know if I'll ever run them as actual Icon of Despair or just for the looks. But banners add a lot to a unit, that's why I also added one to my cultists (despite them not having rules for it).

This banner bearer is the grenade throwing marine. The banner pole is from the Plague Bearers. I don't know where the banner top is from, I found it in the bit box (but it must be a nurgle kit). The severed head is also from Plague Bearers.
The parchment is another unkown bit I found in the box.

40k: Chaos Cultists

I really dig the Chaos Cultist models, they are full of character. Through some lucky trades I've managed to get a hold of two old boxes of Dark Vengeance. Selling the Dark Angels and Khorne Marines I've managed to end up with 40 free cultists and 2 free Hellbrutes.

Very minor conversion work done to these guys. I've added a banner, despite it not having any rules - other than rule of cool.

Did a few simple weapon and bajonet swaps.

I've used the same colours for these guys as my other Death Guard, but made sure to mix them around on the 'double sculpts' - a way to counter the monopose feel.
